What is a double-door container?

Double-door equipment is intended for access at both ends. It is often called a tunnel container. This differs from a standard dry container with one end-door set and from a side-opening container. For any offered unit, request photos of both ends and a layout drawing: a short listing code does not prove the exact door arrangement.

Oceanbox lists 20DD, 20GPDD and 40HCDD separately. Preserve the exact code in your inquiry. Do not assume 20DD and 20GPDD describe interchangeable batches, even when the nominal length is the same.

Which configuration should you compare?

The code identifies a configuration to investigate, not guaranteed internal dimensions, payload or transport approval. The actual offered equipment and written specifications govern supply.

When can access at both ends help?

Consider double-door equipment if cargo must be reached from either end, if a storage layout needs two access points, or if loading plans benefit from working at opposite ends. Compare the clear openings with your cargo and handling equipment. This does not establish that a forklift may enter safely or that any intended modification is approved.

If the cargo requires access along its length, compare side-opening configurations instead. Before choosing either layout, check door-swing space, clearances, ground conditions and the delivery or collection arrangement with the relevant operator.

What should a batch specification include?

Request measured clear openings at both ends, internal dimensions, floor condition, door seals, locking gear, tare and payload information for the offered batch. State whether the equipment is for storage, transport or conversion. For transport use, obtain the applicable equipment documentation rather than relying only on the product name or condition label.
